The Dos and Don'ts of Donating to ReStores

The Dos and Don'ts of Donating to ReStores

ReStore Staff

ReStores are the non-profit retail arm of Habitat for Humanity. All proceeds from the sale of donated items directly support our affordable housing mission, helping us build a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Our ReStore teams clean, test, and sell items to the public at a significant discount to help support our services and build sites. Although we are a non-profit retailer, we account for market demand and item turnover rate as any for-profit retailer would. We must be able to sell items in a timely manner to keep floor our limited floor space available for future donations, so we consider factors like item condition, current market trends, and customer demand when processing your donations. Though we may have to turn some donations away as a result, we appreciate every donation that comes through our doors!

Check out the guidelines below to learn more about what we do and don't accept.

We Accept (New or Gently-Used): We Don't Accept:
Appliances Cribs
Furniture Used ladders, rugs, tile, and carpet
Tools Clothing
Home Decor Hazardous materials (like open paint)
Building Materials Bedding, box springs, and mattresses

Note that all items are subject to store approval based on the various aforementioned factors. Still have questions? Please contact us at restoredonation@gohabitat.org.
